Compliance Officer & MLRO (UK) — FCA, Fintech & Payments Experience

Company: Juuli
Apply for the Compliance Officer & MLRO (UK) — FCA, Fintech & Payments Experience
Location: London
Job Description:

Juuli is an AI-native fintech platform built exclusively for Europe’s 43M+ solopreneurs. We bring payments, cards, FX, invoicing and tax automation into one place, with 90-second onboarding and AI at the core of the product. We are a lean, London-based team, and every leader here has a direct impact on how we grow.

The Role

You will be Juuli’s MLRO and head of compliance, and our main point of contact for the FCA. You will play a central role in our FCA authorisation as an e‑money institution and build the compliance framework that goes with it, working directly with the founders.

What You’ll Do

  • Be our day-to-day contact with the FCA: authorisation process, queries, notifications and regulatory returns.
  • Play a central role in our FCA authorisation: regulatory documentation, governance and responses to FCA questions.
  • Act as MLRO and nominated officer: own our AML/CTF framework, assess internal reports and submit SARs to the NCA.
  • Maintain our business-wide risk assessment, policies, procedures and compliance monitoring programme
  • Oversee KYC/KYB onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and ongoing due diligence
  • Oversee compliance with our licensed partners: due diligence, audits and information requests
  • Review products, marketing and financial promotions against FCA rules
  • Deliver staff training and report regularly to senior management on risks and control effectiveness
  • Work with product, engineering and fraud teams to build controls into the product by design

What We’re Looking For

  • Based in the UK with the right to work in the UK
  • 5+ years in AML and financial crime compliance within FCA-regulated firms
  • Direct experience working with the FCA: authorisation, supervision or regulatory reporting
  • Experience as MLRO, Deputy MLRO or nominated officer.
  • Professional experience in fintech, payments or e‑money.
  • Strong working knowledge of the UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017, POCA, the Terrorism Act, JMLSG guidance, the Electronic Money Regulations and the Payment Services Regulations
  • Experience designing risk-based KYC/KYB and transaction monitoring for digital onboarding
  • Ability to discuss controls with engineers and product teams as a peer
  • Sound judgment, clear writing and excellent English

Nice to Have

  • Hands‑on experience with an FCA authorisation or variation application, ideally for an e‑money or payment institution
  • CAMS or ICA qualification in compliance or financial crime
  • Experience overseeing licensed or sponsor partners
  • Experience with small business or solopreneur customers
  • Experience using automation or AI in compliance workflows

What We Offer

  • A senior, high-visibility role with direct access to the founders
  • The chance to build the compliance function from the ground up
