Job Description:

Business Development Manager (Semiconductors)

Hybrid, on-site at least once every two weeks plus UK customer travel

£50,000 to £70,000 basic (depending on experience) + 20% bonus + Company car

5V Tech are working with a specialist semiconductor distributor with a strong reputation in audio and an established international presence. They’re a small, growing team heading into an expansion phase, taking their technical expertise into new markets including sensing and power applications (power conversion and motor drives).

They need a BDM to grow the UK market, winning new business while managing and developing their established legacy accounts, reporting directly to the MD.

No layers of corporate sign-off, quick decisions and a genuine say in where the business goes next.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Finding and winning new UK business across audio semiconductors, sensing and power applications
  • Looking after and growing existing customer accounts alongside winning new ones
  • Owning the full sales cycle, from spotting the opportunity to closing the contract
  • Building relationships with C-suite and engineering teams at customers and suppliers
  • Running technical presentations and product demos, in person and over Teams
  • Working with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers to support customer projects
  • Keeping a healthy pipeline and forecasting accurately
  • Representing the business at industry events and trade shows

Requirements:

  • Proven B2B technical sales experience within semiconductors, electronics or a related technical sector
  • A track record of developing and closing deals on complex technical products
  • Confidence talking to senior decision makers and engineers alike
  • Comfortable running your own territory independently
  • A UK driving licence (customer visits are part of the job)
  • Knowledge of audio semiconductors or audio electronics
  • Knowledge of power conversion or sensor applications
  • A degree in Electronic Engineering or similar (equivalent experience is valued just as much)
  • Semiconductor distribution or distribution-adjacent experience
  • Experience selling into industrial, automotive or marine sectors

Important things to know:

  • Large remote dimension. On-site at least once every two weeks, plus regular UK travel and some overseas supplier engagement
  • It’s a small team, so this is a hands-on role with real autonomy
