We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance function and play a key role in the continued development and success of our business.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established menswear business with both retail and wholesale operations, where finance has a genuine seat at the table. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will have broad responsibility across financial control, commercial reporting, treasury, cash flow, stock, systems and the leadership and development of the finance and administration teams.
This is a hands-on senior finance position with significant autonomy and the opportunity to lead the upcoming finance ERP implementation.
You will lead and develop the finance and administration teams, setting high standards while creating an environment where people can learn, take ownership and progress. We are looking for a Financial Controller who genuinely enjoys coaching, supporting and bringing the best out of others.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will be responsible for:
– Leading and developing your teams, creating clear accountability and opportunities for progression.
– Producing accurate and insightful monthly management accounts and Board reporting.
– Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
– Providing commercial analysis across sales, gross margin, profitability and overheads.
– Managing treasury, banking relationships, cash flow, working capital and foreign exchange.
– Overseeing stock accounting, stock provisions and margin analysis.
– Ensuring robust financial controls and statutory and tax compliance.
– Managing relationships with auditors, advisers, banks and other professional partners.
– Leading the continued development of the finance systems and ERP.
– Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and efficiency.
– Acting as a trusted financial adviser and constructive challenge to the wider management team.

You will be:
– Commercially minded interested in what drives the business, not just the numbers.
– Analytical able to turn financial information into useful insight and action.
– A confident communicator comfortable working with senior managers and explaining financial matters clearly.
– Constructively challenging willing to question assumptions and decisions while building strong relationships.
–Hands-on comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels.

– Accurate and disciplined maintaining high standards of financial control and integrity.
– Improvement-focused always looking for better ways of working and developing both people and processes.
– Collaborative someone who sees finance as an integral part of the wider business.
– A people leader someone who enjoys coaching, developing and motivating their team and takes pride in seeing others succeed.
