Commercial Finance Analyst – Denham
Analyse it. Partner it. Trust it with lives!
Take on a role where financial expertise meets global operational impact. As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will join a high-performing team delivering forward-looking, value-add analysis rather than transactional accounting. From initial bid pricing to final margin evaluation, your commercial acumen ensures our life-saving technology remains sustainable and successful.
Direct Impact, Global Scale. Life-Saving Mission.
At Martin-Baker, the work we do matters. We design, manufacture and support life-saving equipment used by aircrew around the world. Our products operate in demanding environments, where quality, reliability and attention to detail are critical.
We’re proud of our long history in aerospace and defence, also focused on the future. Joining Martin-Baker means becoming part of a business with a clear purpose, strong engineering capability and a long-term commitment to its people, products and customers.
Whether you work in engineering, operations, commercial, finance, supply chain or support functions, your contribution helps deliver equipment that protects lives. It is challenging work, but it is also meaningful, and with over 7,800 lives saved, it gives our people the opportunity to be part of something with real impact.
The Opportunity
As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will act as the financial heartbeat of our business partnering operations. Reporting directly to the Commercial Finance Controller, you will enter a high-visibility, relatively flat team structure focused on connecting finance with the wider business, including our engineering and commercial divisions.
This is an incredible opportunity to leave repetitive month-end journals behind. Instead, you will gain deep exposure to 3-statement modelling, process automation, and strategic commercial proposals. You will work closely with internal teams to turn operational data into actionable insight, with the potential for occasional international travel.
What You’ll Do
- Business Partnering: Work closely with Commercial, Engineering, and Sourcing teams to provide advanced financial data for enhanced decision-making.
- Bids & Proposals: Partner directly with the Commercial department on pricing, new business proposals, and potentially preparing critical bid packs.
- Value-Add Analysis: Leave transactional journal work behind; your focus will be on forward-looking performance, profitability analysis, and identifying business risks and opportunities.
- Process Improvement: Build, automate, and improve financial reporting models using Power Query to eliminate dependencies on concentrated institutional knowledge.
- Management Insight: Produce and present meaningful financial information to senior stakeholders, focusing on strategic insight rather than simply reporting historic results.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). We highly value applicants with applied ability beyond just passing the exams.
- Systems Savvy: Strong Microsoft Excel skills with experience exploring tools beyond basic pivot tables and XLOOKUPs, such as Power Query, VBA, or Macros.
- ERP Foundations: Experience extracting and analysing business data within SAP is highly preferred, though transferable experience with Oracle or other major ERP systems is welcomed.
- Communication: The confidence to approach people across the business, independently engage with senior stakeholders, and translate complex financial concepts to non‑finance teams.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong numerical capabilities with a passion for 3‑statement financial modelling and uncovering the drivers behind revenue and margin.
- Mindset: A deeply curious “self-starter” who refuses to accept the status quo without questioning assumptions appropriately).
- Share and demonstrate the Martin‑Baker values.
