At West Northamptonshire Council, we believe everyone should have the support they need to live independently, stay safe and achieve the things that matter to them.
As an Adult Social Care Worker, you’ll work alongside adults, their families and carers to understand their needs, identify their strengths and help them access the right support. Whether you’re helping someone remain independent at home, supporting them through a difficult period, or connecting them with services in their community, you’ll play an important role in improving lives.
You’ll join a supportive team within Adult Services, working across a range of settings including community-based services, learning disabilities, hospital discharge and transition services. Every day brings something different, but your focus will always be on helping people achieve the best possible outcomes.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
You’ll be at the heart of supporting adults to live as independently as possible, building trusted relationships and helping people find solutions that work for them.
In This Role, You’ll
- Work alongside adults, their families and carers to understand what matters most to them.
- Complete assessments, reviews and support plans that focus on people’s strengths, goals and independence.
- Manage your own caseload and respond to changing needs, including supporting people during difficult or challenging situations.
- Help people access local services, community resources and support networks.
- Work closely with colleagues across health, social care and partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes.
- Identify safeguarding concerns and take action to help keep people safe.
- Maintain accurate records and use digital systems to support effective decision-making.
Why join us?
You’ll be joining a friendly and experienced team that supports one another, shares knowledge and celebrates success. Working closely with Social Workers and other experienced professionals, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from colleagues around you, build your skills and develop your practice in a supportive environment.
We’re committed to helping our people grow. Whether you’re looking to deepen your knowledge, broaden your experience across Adult Services, or take the next step in your career, you’ll have access to learning and development opportunities, regular supervision and ongoing support. For those interested in progressing into social work, there is also the opportunity to explore a Social Work Apprenticeship pathway.
Alongside a Rewarding Career, You’ll Benefit From
- Flexible, hybrid and family-friendly working arrangements that help you balance work and home life
- Generous annual leave entitlement, with the option to buy additional leave
- Enhanced maternity, adoption and family leave provisions
- Access to our car lease scheme, making it easier to find a vehicle that suits your lifestyle
- A competitive Local Government Pension Scheme to help you plan for the future
- A wide range of employee benefits, discounts and savings on everyday spending
- Learning, development and career progression opportunities to support your growth
- Health and wellbeing support, including resources to help you look after your physical and mental wellbeing
You’ll be passionate about helping people, building positive relationships and supporting adults to live safe, independent and fulfilling lives.
You may already work in social care, health, support work or a similar environment and will understand the importance of building trust, listening to people and helping them achieve the outcomes that matter most to them.
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, organised and able to remain calm when faced with challenges. You’ll enjoy working with families, carers and partner organisations, be confident managing your own workload, and be comfortable making decisions that put people at the centre of everything you do.
You’ll bring experience of supporting adults with care and support needs, an understanding of adult social care legislation, and strong communication, assessment and record keeping skills.
