About the Role
Steel Lintels Ireland is seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Yard Person / Plasma Operator to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Forkhill.
This is a hands-on role involving general yard duties, materials handling and the operation of plasma cutting equipment to support our steel lintel manufacturing process. The successful candidate will help ensure materials are handled safely, production runs efficiently and customer orders are prepared accurately and on time.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, good attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety. Previous experience in a yard or manufacturing environment would be beneficial, although training can be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plasma cutting equipment to cut steel components to the required specifications, following relevant training and operating procedures.
- Assist with the preparation, handling and movement of steel materials throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Load and unload deliveries from lorries, ensuring materials are handled safely and stored correctly.
- Assist with the picking, preparation and loading of customer orders for delivery or collection.
- Check materials and finished products against order requirements to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Assist with goods-in, goods-out and basic stock control activities.
- Operate forklift equipmen.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised yard and work area.
- Carry out routine checks of equipment and report any faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe manual handling practices.
- Report accidents, near misses, hazards or unsafe working conditions to management promptly.
- Work closely with the workshop and wider team to support production schedules and meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the efficient running of the business.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse or manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Experience operating plasma cutting equipment or other CNC machinery would be an advantage.
- Forklift experience and a valid forklift licence are desirable.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and technical specifications.
- A practical, hands-on approach to work, with an awareness of health and safety.
- Ability to handle materials safely and carry out physical duties associated with the role.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to duties and a willingness to support other areas of the business when required.
