Head of Data – Hedge Fund – London

Attribution Search is working with a growing hedge fund looking to appoint a Head of Data to take ownership of its data infrastructure, architecture and wider data strategy.

Working closely with the CTO and investment teams, the successful candidate will oversee the firm’s reference and market data infrastructure, while remaining technically hands-on.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and develop the firm’s reference and market data infrastructure, including its security master.
• Drive data architecture, governance and integration across trading, risk and investment systems.
• Lead the development of the firm’s investment book of record and wider data platform.
• Manage market data vendors and make strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
• Develop and maintain production-level Python and SQL pipelines.
• Work closely with investment teams and senior stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.

Requirements

• Strong experience in reference data, market data or investment data management within a hedge fund or asset manager.
• Good understanding of fixed income markets, including credit, loans and derivatives.
• Strong hands-on Python and SQL development experience.
• Experience designing and building data platforms, including security masters and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of financial data providers such as Bloomberg, S&P and Markit.
• Ability to take ownership of technical decisions and operate autonomously within a growing business.
