Consultant Psychiatrist -Jade Ward (Inpatient) Crawley (45K RRP)

Overview

In this full-time Consultant Psychiatrist role, you will join a 19-bed acute inpatient ward at Langley Green Hospital as part of an inpatient MDT. You provide high-quality, person-centred care to adults with acute mental health difficulties and take a leadership position within the team. The post offers opportunities for research, teaching and service development, with support for flexible working and professional growth. You will contribute to governance and quality improvement while engaging with a broad regional network.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment to inpatients
• Lead ward rounds and MDT meetings
• Act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients under the Mental Health Act
• Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching/training
• Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
• Support research, teaching, and development of special interests
• Join the Trust-wide consultant network and collaborate with peers

Key requirements

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• GMC registration with licence to practise at appointment; Specialist Register or within six months; Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months
• MRCPsych and additional clinical qualifications (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence or valid alternative evidence
• Excellent knowledge of specialty and bio-psycho-social approach
• Ability to deliver undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and training
• Strong communication and collaborative/team leadership skills
• Participation in CPD, audit and quality improvement programmes
