Payroll Specialist

Overview

In this role you will own UK payroll operations within a global organisation, coordinating with ADP to ensure monthly payroll runs are accurate and timely. You will work closely with HR and Finance to manage inputs, benefits, and statutory obligations, delivering compliant payroll outputs. You will own payroll calendars, resolve issues, and drive process improvements to support scalable payroll delivery. This is a hands-on, expert role that shapes payroll delivery and governance across the UK business. You will be the day-to-day payroll specialist, enabling reliable payroll operations and accurate financial postings.

Responsibilities

• Primary internal owner for UK payroll activities, collaborating with ADP for monthly payroll processing
• Prepare, review, and submit payroll input files (starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, deductions, corrections)
• Validate ADP outputs, review calculations and reconciliations before final approval
• Maintain payroll calendars, manage re-calculations, and resolve errors and warnings
• Manage payroll inputs for new starters/leavers, salary changes, promotions, and changes to working hours or contracts
• Capture statutory pay (SMP, SPP, SSP) and pension implications, including manual adjustments when needed
• Administer payroll-related benefits and deductions (P11D, private medical insurance, cycle to work, etc.) and reconcile deductions to finance postings
• Maintain accurate benefit records and reconcile against finance postings

Key requirements

• UK payroll experience
