Head of HR Services, HR Systems and Workforce Information

Overview

As HR Services Leader you guide a diverse portfolio spanning payroll, HR systems, and workforce information to support accurate pay and trusted data across the Trust. You will drive payroll governance, service improvement with the external provider, and lead HR systems projects such as ESR and e‑Rostering. Your leadership will enable seamless workforce information, reporting, and planning, while supporting NHS People Portal transition and organizational change. This role offers a chance to shape people services in a transformation‑driven hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop HR Services, ensuring accurate payroll, effective temporary staffing, and first-line HR support
• Direct payroll governance and collaboration with external provider to drive service improvements
• Oversee HR Systems development to maximise system benefits and data quality across the Trust
• Lead Workforce Information to support decision-making, planning, reporting, and compliance including right-to-work
• Support transition to NHS PeoplePortal and manage sustainable change in the workforce solution
• Develop teams and foster a culture of inclusion, involvement, and continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Extensive experience leading and managing payroll services, including outsourced payroll provision and payroll governance
• Experience implementing ESR and e-Rostering systems
• Experience managing HR teams in a healthcare environment
• Experience in workforce/roster planning and HR change/transformation projects
• Experience in delivering projects within a healthcare setting and risk management
• Ability to build relationships with customers, stakeholders and suppliers
• Ability to work to deadlines within budget
• Strong knowledge of payroll governance, statutory requirements, and complex payroll issues
