Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver rotating equipment engineering support to ensure safe, reliable operation of Morecambe Hub systems. You will work with maintenance and operations teams to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support turnarounds and projects. The position involves offshore exposure and collaboration with global experts, contributing to safer, more efficient energy operations. This embedded role combines technical leadership with hands-on asset integrity and improvement work.

Responsibilities

• Provide rotating equipment engineering support for safe, reliable operation of Morecambe Hub rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, engines)
• Support and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance with maintenance and operations teams
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards (ASME, API, ISO, DN/V), and regulations
• Support inspection, testing, and condition monitoring programs to maintain asset integrity
• Provide technical input to capital projects and modifications, including specs, design reviews, and commissioning
• Review and approve rotating equipment work scopes, job packs, and method statements
• Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure safety, quality, and contractual compliance
• Support turnarounds, commissioning, and start-up activities as required
• Participate in safety studies (HAZOP, HAZIDs, LOPA) and implement safeguards
• Support change management by assessing impacts of operational or design changes
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation (drawings, datasheets, calculations, procedures)
• Any other associated duties as reasonably required

Key requirements

• Proven experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas operations, maintenance, and asset integrity practices
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment used in oil and gas production facilities
• Materials and corrosion mechanisms
• Maintenance strategies and reliability engineering
• Offshore safety case and permit-to-work systems
• Industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV where applicable)
• Educated to degree level, ideally MEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered Engineer preferable
• BOSIET, MIST & Offshore Medical would be beneficial
