Product Manager – Core Banking Platform

Overview

In this role you own the Real Estate product agenda on Shawbrook’s Vault Core platform, shaping how Real Estate products behave and are delivered. You’ll translate business needs into precise, testable product definitions and collaborate with engineering, risk, data, and operations to ensure compliant, scalable delivery. You’ll drive discovery for new propositions like bridging drawdowns and development finance, and establish a credible, prioritised Real Estate pipeline. Responsibilities

• Define and shape Real Estate initiatives on the Vault Core roadmap aligned with commercial priorities and delivery capacity
• Run discovery on new Real Estate propositions (bridging drawdowns, development finance) and assess platform feasibility
• Convert business intent into well-formed initiatives with clear scope, dependencies and success criteria
• Provide a decisive product perspective on poorly formed requests and propose alternatives
• Own Real Estate product behavior on Vault Core: interest accrual, fees, payment waterfall, drawdowns, and repayment rules
• Translate propositions and legal terms into unambiguous requirements with user stories and acceptance criteria
• Develop calculation models to validate expected numbers against acceptance criteria
• Decide between configuration, platform capability, or operational workaround; articulate trade-offs
• Implement controls for FCA/Consumer Duty, accurate calculations, auditable posting, and correct GL treatment
• Collaborate with engineers, origination, servicing, payments, Finance, Data, and Risk early to align requirements
• Communicate decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Escalate cross-book trade-offs and ensure Real Estate needs are reflected in cross-product design

Key requirements

• Product management experience with lending products and their mechanics (interest accrual, day-count conventions, fees, payment allocation, waterfalls)
• Strong core product management craft: discovery, problem framing, roadmapping, prioritisation trade-offs
• Experience defining engineering requirements with detailed acceptance criteria
• Experience with modern configurable core banking platforms and interpreting configuration against intent
• Comfort with API-based, event-driven systems and understanding data flows
• Data-driven decision making and ability to model outcomes using system outputs
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to engage engineers and senior stakeholders as peers
• Agile working practices; fluency in Jira and Confluence
• Precision and intellectual honesty; willingness to challenge designs and surface unknowns
• Desirable: Direct experience with Thought Machine Vault Core; knowledge of buy-to-let, bridging or development finance; understanding of servicing lifecycle; accounting principles; Python literacy
