Technical Engineering Manager

In this role you co-own the engineering roadmap with the Product Manager and drive delivery health and technical outcomes for a dedicated team. You balance shipping quality with architectural integrity, mentoring engineers and guiding trade-offs. You’ll own hiring, budgeting and team goals while advancing SLOs and operational health. Responsibilities

• Co-own the roadmap with the Product Manager, balancing delivery, quality and technical health as equals
• Own delivery health for the team – predictability, throughput and quality of what ships
• Own technical accountability including architecture and SLOs
• Stay close to the codebase to make informed technical calls
• Review PRs and pair-programme regularly to maintain quality and mentor engineers
• Manage, coach and develop engineers, and own hiring from sourcing to close
• Set and track team-level goals with direct reports
• Own team budget including software spend and headcount planning
• Own SLOs and operational health for the systems the team is responsible for
• Drive adoption of AI tooling and practices within the team

Key requirements

• Previous experience managing engineers in a product-led organisation
• Track record of owning delivery outcomes, not just team happiness or process
• Ability to manage both people and technical threads simultaneously
• Experience or enthusiasm for hiring, budget ownership and operational metrics like SLOs
