Programme Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead a portfolio of high-profile strategic programmes to deliver organisational transformation for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. You will work across directorates to align initiatives with corporate objectives and drive meaningful change for communities. You will build governance, manage cross-functional project teams, and engage stakeholders to shape future services. This is a chance to influence strategy in a digitally driven, resident-focused council.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of change with implementation plans aligned to corporate objectives
• Plan, direct and coordinate interrelated projects from proposal initiation to final operation
• Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Council
• Manage complex multiple project teams to meet objectives and address issues
• Develop proactive approach to managing emerging and strategic risks across programmes
• Develop robust governance frameworks including project plans, risk/issue logs, and programme reports
• Report on programme activity for boards as necessary

Key requirements

• Recognised programme or project management accreditation (e.g. Agile Certified and Prince2, MSP)
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent
• Fluent English for public-facing roles
• Background checks: references, CIFAS identity checks
• Commitment to equality and safeguarding policies (implicit in public sector)
