Technical Lead

Overview

As Technical Lead at Leidos, you will own engineering delivery and lead the workstream under the Chief Engineer. You’ll guide technical direction, mentor the team, and ensure delivery meets quality, cost, and schedule targets. You’ll drive technical documentation, design updates, and governance compliance to secure customer acceptance. This role sits at the heart of complex software-enabled systems within a defence/government-focused environment, offering impact across project startup to closeout. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders to enable growth and delivery of mission-critical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and technically assure the solution within quality, cost and schedule constraints
• Achieve customer acceptance of the solution
• Provide technical leadership, direction and mentorship across the workstream
• Ensure engineering processes meet contracted standards and governance
• Identify required skills, people and resources to deliver the solution
• Define engineering practices aligned with company policies
• Lead and manage engineering activities across the project
• Prepare project-specific technical documentation for PDR/CDR/SRR/SPR and other sessions
• Lead updates to High-Level and Low-Level Design documentation
• Collaborate with Project Managers to prepare WBS, Product Breakdown Structures and resource bases of estimate for proposals and growth

Key requirements

• Experienced technical leader capable of coordinating and directing engineering teams through delivery and acceptance of complex systems
• Background in complex software-enabled systems and systems integration
• Technical team management including work-packages, activity planning and progress reporting
• Experience as an implementing software engineer
• Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss technical concepts clearly
• Commercial awareness for discussions with customers and suppliers
