Production Technology Specialist

Overview

As Production Technology Specialist, you support the full tech stack from on-set capture to online and on-air delivery within ITV News. You’ll work closely with editorial and operations teams to keep local systems performing and participate in tech projects across the News Technology Management Team. The role blends hands-on support with proactive maintenance, requiring quick learning, calm decision-making under pressure, and a willingness to travel within the region. This is a hands-on, team-driven position that helps ensure reliable, high-quality news production.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-class technical and operational support across local ITV News regions
• Engage with and support ITV technical projects led by the News Technology Management Team
• Ensure local systems and equipment are fully operational for production needs
• Be an engaging, proactive team member and communicate effectively at all levels
• Carry out prescribed preventative and corrective maintenance regimes
• Assist with projects driven by the News Technology Management Team
• Train and develop Production Specialist colleagues for appropriate technical cover
• Provide remote and out-of-hours support for home licence and other ITV newsrooms
• Handle local work requested by ITV Group Technology or Accenture
• Collaborate with ITV Tech Zone to resolve workplace technology issues
• Record problems, incidents and certifications as mandated
• Be familiar with systems and operate as required
• Control spend on technical equipment for repairs and renewals
• Commit to continuous personal and technical development for News operations

Key requirements

• Experience in a similar or related role or relevant outside interests and experience
• Analytical problem solving to meet broadcast and publishing deadlines
• Literate with modern broadcast live production systems and workflows
• Experience of managing servers with Windows and Apple devices
• Self-starter and multi-skilled to handle issues and requests promptly
• Experience of working effectively in a team
• Confident and clear communication, able to explain technical details to non-technical colleagues
