Consulting Engineer

Overview

In this Consulting Engineer role, you design and implement advanced Cisco networking solutions for large, secure environments. You will work within the Customer Experience team to accelerate customer success and digital transformation. You’ll apply deep technical expertise to optimize networks, integrate AI and automation, and support complex issues across Cisco technologies. This position requires UK Security Clearance and offers the opportunity to influence product roadmaps while delivering measurable business outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive robust, scalable services and secure architectures that protect critical data.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cutting-edge Cisco technologies for large, complex networks
• Leverage new technologies to deliver scalable, robust services
• Integrate AI and automation into delivery practices for automation of deployments
• Analyze network performance and propose optimization options
• Provide advanced technical support across a broad range of technologies
• Develop digital intellectual capital and repeatable delivery frameworks
• Provide feedback to Engineering and Product to influence roadmaps

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols and technologies with hands-on Catalyst router and switch experience
• Design and deployment experience of SDA and SD-WAN
• Experience integrating network services appliances (firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizers)
• Professional level (e.g. CCNP, Cisco DevNet) or equivalent vendor certification

• Strong communication and planning skills
• Self-motivated with focus on execution
• Knowledge of software programmability and automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• Orchestration and virtualization technologies
• SDA and SD-WAN expertise
• L2/L3 networking proficiency
