Women’s and Children’s Risk Manager

Overview

As Women’s and Children’s Risk Manager you lead quality, governance and patient safety for maternity, gynaecology, neonates and paediatrics. You will shape a positive safety culture in partnership with senior clinical and operational teams and drive improvements across national and local priorities. You’ll oversee incident management, Duty of Candour, and organisational learning, while line-managing the maternity risk team. This role offers influence across local, regional and national governance networks in a large teaching NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead the governance, risk and patient safety programme for women’s and children’s services.
• Provide expert leadership on incident management, investigations and Duty of Candour.
• Develop and deliver quality improvement initiatives aligned with national/local priorities.
• Lead and line-manage the Maternity Risk Team.
• Collaborate with clinical/operational leaders to embed a positive safety culture.
• Represent UHCW at local, regional and national risk/governance networks.
• Participate in strategic development of maternity risk/governance projects and national initiatives.

Key requirements

• First degree in midwifery and NMC registration.
• Extensive NHS experience with governance, risk management and patient safety.
• Experience with incident investigations (RCA) and Datix reporting.
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to analyse data and present clear reports.
• Experience in managing meetings and coordinating multi-stakeholder governance.
