Security Operations Engineer, AWS Security Cloud Response, Amazon Security Cloud Security Response

Overview

In this role you lead security responses for AWS Cloud, balancing technical and business risk to protect customers and the organization. You’ll coordinate cross-team incident responses, build internal tools for rapid automation, and shape security practices across engineering, cryptography, and operations. You operate at scale, tracking trends and guiding remediation while mentoring others. This position offers impact across a massive cloud environment and opportunities to drive proactive security improvements.

Responsibilities

• Triage and coordinate remediation of security issues with internal service teams
• Lead cross-team incident response efforts and ensure timely action
• Develop pragmatic, risk-balanced solutions that meet business requirements
• Mentor junior staff and support hiring activities
• Promote security best practices across the organization and build internal security tools
• Fulfill on-call responsibilities and maintain readiness for high-pressure incidents
• Participate in security communications with diverse audiences across the company
• Contribute to automation, tooling, and scalable security workflows
• Evaluate current security advisories and research to inform responses

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent
• Knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP)
• Programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar
• Understanding of security vulnerabilities, remediation techniques, and exploit development
• Experience with threat modeling or risk identification techniques
• Experience implementing security solutions at the business division level
• Preferred: experience with AWS products and services
• Experience with security operations, incident response, and risk management
