Senior Development Manager / Development Director

Overview

As Senior Development Manager/Director, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of development projects from acquisition to handover. You will shape the development strategy, manage cross‑functional teams, and ensure schemes align with business plans, budgets, and programmes. You will oversee risk, drive value through viability and appraisal work, and coordinate external consultants to deliver high‑quality outcomes. This role offers impact across residential/mixed-use schemes within a dynamic, growth‑oriented SME developer. You will work closely with partners to steer projects from concept to completion with commercial discipline.

Responsibilities

• Deliver development projects from acquisition to completion
• Lead development strategy and manage planning, design, procurement, construction, and handover
• Appoint and manage external professional teams (architects, planning consultants, engineers, QS, etc.)
• Establish and manage programmes, budgets and milestones
• Monitor performance, manage risk, and take corrective actions to ensure delivery

Key requirements

• Cradle‑to‑grave development management experience across residential/mixed-use
• Understanding of development appraisals, viability, planning, procurement and delivery
• Strong technical and commercial understanding of construction costs
• Experience managing professional teams, contractors and external consultants
• Strong financial and analytical skills with ability to assess and manage development risk
• Quantity Surveying, Commercial or Cost Management background advantageous
