Data Team Manager

Overview

As Data Team Manager you lead a specialist data team within Implementation Services to ensure accurate data preparation, checks, and guidance for complex schemes. You collaborate with transition, exclusivity and technical teams to support onboarding and BAU data activities, acting as the first point of contact for implementation queries from TPAs and Operational teams. You drive quality, training, and competence, shaping data processes for scheme transitions and timely delivery. This is a pivotal role in delivering high-quality data support across DB pension implementations and early BAU administration, within a growth-focused, customer-centric retirement business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Team to meet agreed timelines and quality standards
• Provide ongoing training and assess competence of new team members
• Plan and allocate work to build a competency framework for Data functions
• Oversee data tasks for transition schemes (e.g., payroll funding, member calculations)
• Collaborate with onboarding to define data sets and handover for each scheme
• Drive motivation, progression opportunities, and staff development
• Ensure completion of scheme transitions within timeframes and support early BAU
• Manage day-to-day data needs for new scheme implementations and related stakeholders
• Coordinate monthly funding data for schemes in implementation and perform DB data analysis
• Produce weekly/monthly MI and raise/document issues as needed

Key requirements

• Good knowledge of DB Pensions and Life and Pensions industry
• Understanding of Corporate DB Pensions vs DC and annuities
• Knowledge of DB de-risking market and wind up concepts
• Experience in data or implementation functions
• Desirable: experience with pension scheme trustees and non-standard processes/systems
