Health and Safety Systems and Compliance Manager

Overview

In this role you will own and enhance the Group’s health, safety and environmental management systems to support sustainable construction. You’ll partner with senior leaders to shape SHE strategy and ensure consistent practices across the business. You will lead audits, drive certification efforts, and translate findings into tangible improvements. This is a group-level position based in Edinburgh with hybrid working, offering scope to influence across a major construction organisation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, develop and continually improve the Group’s health, safety and environmental management systems
• Lead internal audits and system reviews focusing on ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and support continued certification
• Ensure processes, written procedures and working practices are embedded consistently across the business
• Prepare compliance reports, communicate audit findings and identify opportunities to improve SHE systems and performance
• Collaborate with senior leaders to shape SHE strategy and drive improvements across the organisation

Key requirements

• Strong SHE management systems and auditing experience, ideally within construction or heavy operational environment
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, with experience of conducting and leading audits and reviewing management systems
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence colleagues and senior leaders
• Strong analytical, compliance reporting and IT skills, including experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office applications
• Proactive, self-motivated approach with ability to take ownership of a new role and drive improvements
