Area Support Engineer

Overview

In this role you help Yorkshire Water deliver reliable water and wastewater services by supporting asset changes, interventions and incident recovery. You will advise operational and senior managers and work with a multi-disciplinary team to diagnose causes and implement sustainable solutions. You’ll inform and challenge capital interventions while ensuring asset safety, water quality and environmental protection. The position sits in the Area Support Engineering Team, with scope across a large regional asset base and ongoing capital programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical decision-maker for asset changes, interventions and recovery
• Provide technical guidance to operational and senior managers
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary support team to diagnose root causes and implement durable solutions
• Assess and steer capital interventions based on technical insight
• Act as the technical conscience in a busy operational environment
• Prioritize asset safety, customer service, water quality and environmental protection

Key requirements

• >5 years hands-on experience in asset maintenance, design, risk assessment and changes
• Solid understanding of multi-discipline engineering (MEICA)
• Working knowledge of HSE regulations (CDM, DSEAR, COSHH, LOLER)
• Proven people skills and ability to clearly explain complex subjects
