Senior Automation and AI Engineer

Overview

In this senior, individual-contributor role, you will advance automated and AI-driven solutions across Pax8’s global business. You’ll shape architecture, drive technical assurance, and mentor peers while enabling scalable, secure delivery. The position blends hands-on delivery with governance to reduce manual checks and improve long-term quality. You’ll join a collaborative, high-autonomy team shaping how AI and automation inform decisions and operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automation and AI solutions to tackle business and partner needs
• Set architecture principles and quality standards for secure, consistent delivery
• Create automated cybersecurity and policy checks to scale assurance
• Review AI solutions before production with practical guidance
• Develop monitoring that shows health, quality and security over time
• Act as escalation point for engineering decisions in automation, AI, and architecture
• Remain hands-on while mentoring and improving team capability
• Collaborate with technology functions, builders, and business leaders
• Translate complex technology into clear decisions for advisory and enablement activities
• Keep pace with emerging tech and evolving cybersecurity expectations
• Contribute to team learning through documentation, coaching, and knowledge sharing
• Participate in quarterly team offsites

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience building and architecting production tech solutions
• Experience contributing to product or engineering teams with technical ownership
• Ability to lead technically while delivering independently
• Knowledge of automation platforms and agent-building tech; experience with tools listed in ad
• Capability to design applications, automated workflows, AI solutions, dashboards
• Understanding of secure engineering, technical assurance, and architecture principles
• Ability to balance efficiency and maintainability in engineering
• Experience gathering requirements and delivering from scope to delivery
• Clear English communication to varied audiences
• Structured approach to priorities and changing requirements
• Comfort with ambiguity and shaping evolving methods
• Hands-on AI or automation delivery experience
• Experience in growth/startup environments
• Relevant degree, practical experience, or applicable technical certification
