Senior Trade & Logistics Specialist

Overview

In this role, you will lead import customs clearance activities across three AU divisions, ensuring compliant and cost-effective operations. You’ll collaborate with freight providers, brokers, and HMRC while coordinating with the AU Import Team. The position is based at ABB Daresbury with hybrid working and one day in the office weekly. You will monitor performance, drive improvements, and develop team capability to support smooth trade compliance. Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily import customs clearance activities across three AU divisions.
• Process customs clearance instructions via ABB’s Esker platform and generate reports.
• Serve as primary contact for customs brokers, freight providers, and HMRC.
• Review and validate customs declarations for UK compliance.
• Audit broker activities including entries, invoicing, and record retention.
• Maintain accurate customs records and proper documentation archiving.
• Monitor broker performance against KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead, support, and develop AU Import Team members while prioritising workloads.

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience processing import customs clearance requests.
• Experience with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and HMRC on import activities.
• Proficiency with ABB’s Esker platform for processing requests and reports.
• Strong understanding of customs procedures, import documentation, and trade compliance.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate across a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and data/documentation accuracy.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Previous leadership, supervision, coaching, or development of team members is highly desirable.
