Head of IT Infrastructure and Security

Overview

In this role you lead and secure the organization’s IT infrastructure within a global commercial insurance context. You will safeguard operations, drive security policy across cloud environments, and align vendors to strategic goals. The role emphasizes risk management, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with senior stakeholders. You will shape how technology supports business continuity and security at scale in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IT operations to ensure stability, continuity, and efficiency of technology platforms
• Define and enforce cloud security policies, identity management, and access controls
• Lead zero-trust security adoption across cloud platforms
• Manage IAM in a cloud-first environment (Azure AD, MFA, Conditional Access, SSO, PAM)
• Lead threat monitoring, detection, and response using cloud-native security tools (Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, SIEM)
• Ensure compliance with cloud security frameworks and regulatory requirements (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, SOC2, FCA)
• Manage a Cloud environment with a small technical team and oversee multiple suppliers
• Coordinate MSPs to align security and IT delivery with stakeholder expectations and board requirements

Key requirements

• upwards of 10 years hands-on IT Infrastructure experience with Security and Risk
• Ideally from banking or insurance sector
• Experience with Azure/AAD, MFA, Conditional Access, SSO, PAM
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Defender, Sentinel, SIEM
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS) and regulatory requirements (GDPR, SOC2, FCA)
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or similar
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities
• Hybrid working arrangement with London-based role
