Senior Associate – Insurance Disputes

Overview

In this role, you will advise on a broad range of insurance coverage and liability disputes within Mills & Reeve’s London Disputes practice. You’ll manage day-to-day matters, supervise junior lawyers, and contribute to client development, working alongside partners on complex matters. You will leverage deep knowledge of the London market, Lloyd’s and subscription risks, to shape policy interpretation and dispute strategies. This senior position offers ownership of work, visibility with key clients, and a meaningful role in practice growth.

Responsibilities

• Advise on insurance coverage and liability defence matters across multiple partners
• Manage day-to-day matters and supervise junior lawyers
• Contribute to client development and relationship building with London Market clients
• Take ownership of workstreams and participate in practice growth
• Develop dispute resolution strategies for complex and high-value cases
• Collaborate across D&O, cyber, credit/political risk, property damage, reinsurance, and professional indemnity areas
• Support policy interpretation and coverage disputes in high-stakes matters

Key requirements

• 6+ years’ PQE (or equivalent)
• Ideally from a leading insurance law firm
• Strong understanding of the London insurance market (Lloyd’s and subscription risks)
• Experience advising on policy interpretation, coverage disputes, and liability defence (including professional indemnity)
• Ability to supervise juniors and work with partners on complex matters
• Proven client relationship and business development capabilities
