Track Design Engineer

Location: Wimbledon, London or Basingstoke – 3 days per week in the office, with nationwide project coverage as required.Rate: £440 per day (Umbrella, non-negotiable)Contract length: 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer to develop and manage rail infrastructure engineering proposals from initial feasibility through to detailed design. The role involves delivering safe, cost-effective and compliant engineering solutions while ensuring projects meet programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate track engineering proposals and design options.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant railway standards and safety requirements.
• Manage engineering risks, scope changes, technical interfaces and design reviews.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and consultants.
• Support feasibility studies, site surveys and detailed design handovers.
• Ensure compliance with CDM requirements and environmental considerations.

Essential Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Relevant railway engineering experience and strong track design knowledge.
• Strong technical evaluation and decision-making skills.
• CDM, risk assessment and external audit competency.
• Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
