Team Manager Road Works Quality and Performance

Overview

As Team Manager for Road Works Quality, you will lead a team of Inspectors to ensure road works activities meet the required standards and business expectations. You will act as the SME for reinstatement materials and techniques, champion best practices across Scotland, and ensure compliance with NRSWA and Road Works Codes. Your role includes safeguarding safe performance by both direct and contract labour, collecting data, and delivering clear performance reporting. This position offers influence across safety, quality, and operational delivery within SGN’s network. You will drive continuous improvement and collaboration with internal departments and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the team of Quality and Performance Inspectors across Scotland
• Carry out audits (clegg, visual, core) to ensure workmanship meets standards
• Act as Scotland SME for reinstatement materials and techniques
• Ensure compliance with NRSWA 91 and Road Works Codes of Practice
• Monitor safety and performance of direct and contract labour
• Collect and analyze visual and technical performance data
• Produce and maintain road works performance reports

Key requirements

• Solid understanding of Road Works standards and specifications (NRSWA 91, SROR, Codes of Practice)
• Experience in road works and civils; supervisor NRSWA (91) qualification essential or willingness to obtain
• Problem solving and influencing abilities
• Promote new reinstatement techniques and best practices across Scotland
• Strong internal and external networking skills
• Full valid driving license
