Product Safety Assurance Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead product safety assurance across the lifecycle to ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements. You will provide independent review of designs, verification evidence and safety artefacts, driving traceability and fitness for purpose. You’ll run audits, supplier assurance and risk management to improve assurance status and actions. The position supports cross-site collaboration, with onsite presence required 2 days a week and monthly visits to Barnstaple, as part of a mission to protect what matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead product assurance activities across the lifecycle from concept to in-service support
• Provide independent assurance of engineering outputs, reviewing designs and verification evidence
• Drive continuous improvement through audits, supplier assurance and risk management
• Investigate defects and implement corrective actions and reporting to stakeholders
• Ensure traceability, compliance and fitness for purpose of safety artifacts
• Collaborate with engineering, project, quality, safety and supply-chain teams

Key requirements

• Experience in safety legislation, product assurance, quality assurance, systems engineering or related engineering discipline
• Understanding of lifecycle models and assurance roles from concept to disposal
• Awareness of safety, quality, configuration management and verification principles
• Ability to review technical documentation and identify assurance gaps
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
