Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and develop C++ software for advanced maritime and defence systems, spanning requirements, design, development, integration and testing. You will join a growing engineering team and contribute to full software lifecycle on complex solutions. You’ll work on backend, frontend GUIs and sensor integration within an Agile environment. The position is on-site in Portsmouth and requires UK security clearance. This is a chance to shape mission-critical software that scales across defence platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software solutions in C++
• Design backend systems, communication layers and client/server apps
• Develop front-end GUIs
• Integrate software with external systems and sensors
• Perform unit and simulation-based testing
• Operate within an Agile/SCRUM environment

Key requirements

• Strong C++ development experience
• Object-oriented programming and software design experience
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• Experience with debugging and fault finding
• Understanding of networking and data serialization
• Database and front-end development experience
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with Qt, QML, DDS, PostgreSQL, STL, XML or sensor integration would be highly beneficial
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance
