Overview

As an Electrical Engineer at Mitie, you’ll maintain critical electrical systems across a major NHS hospital, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficient operation. You will work within the engineering team to deliver high-quality maintenance and ensure statutory compliance, directly supporting patient care and staff wellbeing. You’ll troubleshoot faults, perform testing and safety checks, and keep accurate records to drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs
• Undertake electrical testing, inspections, fault finding, and certification works
• Perform electrical safety checks and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
• Ensure compliance with legislation, health and safety regulations, and industry best practices
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently, minimising disruption to hospital services
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation using computerised management systems
• Support continuous improvement of maintenance programmes through proactive inspections and monitoring
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and hospital stakeholders to deliver excellent customer service

Key requirements

• Level 3 City & Guilds Electrical Installation, NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, or equivalent
• AM2 Certification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
• Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management systems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
