Principal Photonics Architect

Overview

In this role you will drive the architecture and design of high-speed photonic ICs for advanced optical systems. You will collaborate with electronics, packaging and systems teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet demanding bandwidth and sensing needs. You’ll lead modelling, simulation and layout work while mentoring engineers within the photonics group. This position offers scope to shape next-generation PICs in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of high-speed PICs for optical communications and sensing
• Develop and optimise photonic devices (modulators, detectors, waveguides) for high bandwidth
• Model, simulate and layout integrated photonic circuits
• Collaborate with electronics, packaging, and systems teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers within the photonics team

Key requirements

• PhD or MSc in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
• Significant experience designing photonic integrated circuits
• Strong understanding of high-speed optical device physics and photonic design tools
• Track record of delivering complex engineering projects
