Apply for the Electrical Pre-Construction Manager / Bid Manager
Location: Blackpool
Job Description:

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established electrical contractor based in Blackpool, is looking for an Electrical Pre-Construction / Bid Manager to lead tendering for its electrical division. You would decide what the business bids for, not only what it costs. In a division this size, that judgement shows up in the order book within months. The division is already working. It turns over around £5 million, and the brief is to hold that momentum while opening doors to clients and sectors the business has not reached yet. That makes it a different job from defending an established position: the pricing has to stay sharp on the work that already comes in, while the relationship-building runs out ahead of it.This is a permanent role in Blackpool, £70,000 to £80,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.About the Business

Early client engagement changes what a bid manager actually does. A contractor that gets in front of clients before the drawings are fixed is competing on judgement rather than on the lowest number, which puts the bid function closer to business development than to estimating alone. It is also why this role carries the decision on which opportunities to chase rather than receiving it.Our client is a well-established electrical contractor based in Blackpool, delivering projects nationally for public and private sector clients. The portfolio covers major leisure, education and community schemes, with low-energy and sustainable buildings a particular strength, and the electrical division turns over around £5 million. A mechanical division is now being launched, with the aim of growing it to match the electrical side. Alongside electrical contracting the wider group offers 3D BIM design coordination and energy services, and the business holds ECA, NICEIC, MCS and Constructionline accreditations. The wider group’s BIM coordination and energy services are useful here in a way they are not to everyone. Being able to put design coordination and energy performance into a submission, rather than subcontracting them or leaving them out, is frequently what separates a compliant bid from a winning one. What You’ll Be Doing
