Chartered Building Surveyor
Location: Essex
Contract: Freelance, long-term opportunity
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor for a long-term freelance opportunity in Essex, supporting the delivery of education sector projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor looking for continuity of work, with projects that could run for several years. You will take on an onsite Project Management role, providing a key point of contact for project delivery and ensuring works are progressing in line with the required standards.
The Role
- Undertake onsite Project Management duties across education projects.
- Monitor contractor progress, quality of works and programme delivery.
- Act as the client’s representative on site, providing oversight of project activities.
- Report on progress, identify potential risks and resolve issues as they arise.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, school representatives and wider project teams.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with specifications, relevant standards and health and safety requirements.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the wider project management team.
Requirements
- MRICS, MCIOB or MCABE qualification is essential.
- Previous experience working on education sector projects is essential.
- Experience undertaking onsite Project Management or contract administration duties.
- Strong understanding of building works, contractor management and project delivery.
- Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage activities effectively on site.
