Location: London
Job Description:

I’m working with a leading global proprietary trading firm that is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join its systematic trading team.

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting fully systematic, multi-asset trading strategies across global markets. You will work closely with software engineers, quantitative researchers and traders, with broad ownership across the research-to-production lifecycle.

The role will involve building and enhancing trading systems, market data connectivity, execution algorithms and research infrastructure, primarily using Python and C++. You will also contribute to signal computation, portfolio optimisation, post-trade analysis and monitoring tools, working within highly available distributed systems with demanding latency requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain software supporting research, trading and post-trade workflows.
  • Build systems for market data processing, signal computation, portfolio optimisation and execution management.
  • Develop and improve trading infrastructure, monitoring and observability tooling.
  • Test and document software to ensure reliability, maintainability and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, traders and fellow engineers.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial requirements through to delivery, with on-call support as required.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience using Python or C++.
  • Proven experience building complex, business-critical software that is reliable and maintainable.
  • Experience developing highly available distributed systems with tight latency constraints.
  • Understanding of computer networking and the trade-offs involved in system design.
  • Knowledge of type systems, fundamental statistics and numerical methods.
  • Previous experience developing software within a trading environment.
  • Strong communication skills, initiative and a desire to continuously learn.
  • Experience working with quantitative researchers is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, functional programming, Cython or integrating Python and C++ is a plus.

My client offers an attractive compensation package alongside excellent benefits, with the opportunity to join a highly technical trading environment where engineers have significant autonomy, work directly with quantitative researchers and contribute to sophisticated systematic strategies.
