Commercial Property Solicitor – In-House
Belfast / Greater Belfast | Hybrid Working | All-Ireland Remit
Take your commercial property career in-house with a world-leading organisation.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor to join the in-house legal team of a highly successful, world-leading international organisation based in Belfast.
This is an opportunity to bring your commercial property expertise into a business environment where you can work closely with key stakeholders, take ownership of a varied portfolio and see the commercial impact of your advice first-hand.
With responsibility spanning Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the role offers exposure to a broad range of property matters, from acquisitions and disposals to leasing, landlord and tenant issues and wider business projects.
Whether you’re an established private practice solicitor considering your first move in-house or an existing in-house lawyer looking for a fresh challenge, this is an opportunity to develop your commercial experience within a substantial international business.
The Opportunity
Working as part of the in-house legal team, you will advise on a diverse property portfolio covering both owned and leased premises, as well as properties leased to third parties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on commercial property acquisitions and disposals.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, licences, easements and wayleaves.
- Advising on landlord and tenant matters, including third-party lettings.
- Supporting the ongoing management of a substantial property portfolio.
- Assisting with due diligence and wider property transactions.
- Working with external solicitors, agents, surveyors and other professional advisers.
- Partnering with commercial and operational stakeholders to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Supporting wider business initiatives and projects with a property or legal dimension.
This is a broad commercial property role offering more than a purely transactional workload. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, manage matters with a good degree of autonomy and develop a deeper understanding of the commercial and operational priorities of a major international organisation.
Why Consider This Role?
- A move beyond traditional private practice – work at the heart of the business and see the impact of your legal advice.
- Varied commercial property work – gain exposure to a diverse portfolio spanning Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Direct stakeholder engagement – build relationships across the organisation and contribute to practical business decisions.
- Professional development – broaden your experience and develop your commercial perspective within an established international business.
- Hybrid working – based in Belfast / Greater Belfast, with travel to Dublin approximately once per month and occasional visits to operational sites across Ireland.
- Attractive remuneration and benefits – a strong overall package alongside long-term career development opportunities.
About You
You will be an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor with a solid technical foundation, strong commercial awareness and the confidence to manage a varied workload independently.
Ideally, you will have:
- Qualification in Northern Ireland and/or the Republic of Ireland.
- Around 5+ years’ PQE in commercial property law, with relevant experience and capability considered alongside PQE.
- Experience across a range of commercial property matters, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing and landlord and tenant work.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
- Confidence in building relationships with stakeholders and working collaboratively with colleagues and external advisers.
Previous in-house experience is not essential. This role would suit a solicitor from private practice looking to apply their expertise in a commercial environment, as well as an existing in-house solicitor seeking broader exposure and a new professional challenge.
Candidates qualified in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland will be considered, subject to the requirement to obtain qualification in the other jurisdiction.
