Strategic Business Partnering Lead

Overview

In this role you will shape the Council’s financial future by leading the finance business partnering approach and delivering strategic financial advice. You will partner with Corporate Directors, Service Directors and senior officers to drive financial sustainability and support major change programmes. You’ll help build a modern, proactive partnering model and deputise for the Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering when needed. This is a senior opportunity with strong exposure to corporate reporting and organisational improvement, aligned to the Council’s values.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Council’s finance business partnering approach
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior officers, Members and the Section 151 Officer
• Support and challenge services to improve financial performance and sustainability
• Oversee financial monitoring, forecasting and financial governance
• Build strong relationships with Corporate Directors, Service Directors and senior managers
• Ensure robust financial input into key decisions, business cases and reports
• Support transformation, improvement and major change programmes
• Deputise for the Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering when required

Key requirements

• CCAB-qualified accountant with strong public sector finance experience
• excellent technical skills and proven ability to influence and challenge at a senior level
