Managed Services, Corporate Accounting – Assistant Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead high-quality statutory and management accounting delivery for a diverse client portfolio. You will work with cross-functional teams to provide joined-up VAT compliance and advisory support, building trusted client relationships and coordinating engagements. You’ll apply strong technical accounting and VAT knowledge to deliver timely outputs and identify opportunities for broader solutions. This position offers impact across mid-market to large FTSE-listed groups, with potential for flexible location (London or Birmingham).

Responsibilities

• Deliver statutory financial statements for standalone entities and groups in line with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage bookkeeping and management accounting outputs to agreed standards and deadlines.
• Prepare and review VAT returns in line with UK requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Build and maintain day-to-day client relationships across a portfolio.
• Coordinate engagements, priorities and stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery.
• Collaborate with corporate tax compliance, Accounting Advisory Services and Payroll to provide joined-up client delivery.
• Identify opportunities to broaden client relationships and contribute to cross-functional solutions.
• Support senior team members with sales activity, proposals and client propositions.

Key requirements

• Strong practical knowledge of UK financial reporting requirements, UK GAAP and IFRS for standalone entities and groups.
• Experience in financial reporting, management accounting and bookkeeping with accurate delivery.
• Solid understanding of UK VAT compliance and VAT return preparation/review.
• Experience managing engagements and coordinating delivery across a portfolio.
• Clear written and verbal communication with ability to analyse issues and provide practical advice.
• ACCA qualified or equivalent
