Building Services Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the coordination and delivery of building services for a Birmingham project under a Tier 1 contractor. You will oversee M&E packages from pre-construction through commissioning and handover, working with design teams, subcontractors and site management. You provide electrical expertise across procurement, installation, testing and commissioning while ensuring programme, quality and budget targets. You will identify risks, manage changes, and uphold health, safety and quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to shape critical building services on a major construction programme and drive smooth handover.

Responsibilities

• Manage building services packages to meet programme, quality and budget requirements
• Review designs for buildability, compliance and coordination with other construction works
• Oversee M&E subcontractors, monitor progress and resolve technical issues
• Provide electrical expertise across procurement, installation, testing and commissioning
• Collaborate with commercial and project teams to identify risks and manage changes
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality across services installations
• Coordinate commissioning, certification, O&M information and final handover

Key requirements

• Experience as a Building Services Manager, M&E Manager or Electrical Project Manager within construction
• Strong electrical background with a relevant qualification
• Experience working for a main contractor or managing substantial M&E packages
• Understanding of mechanical services interfaces and multidisciplinary coordination
• Confident reviewing technical information and coordinating specialist subcontractors
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
