What You’ll Be Doing
- You will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring highways and civil engineering works are delivered safely and efficiently.
- You will supervise and coordinate site operatives, subcontractors and specialist trades to ensure works progress in line with the construction programme.
- You will work closely with the Site Agent and Works Manager to plan activities, allocate resources and manage daily site requirements.
- You will ensure labour, plant, materials and subcontractors are organised effectively to maintain productivity.
- You will monitor progress against programme targets, identifying potential delays and implementing practical solutions.
- You will ensure all site activities comply with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- You will deliver site briefings, toolbox talks and daily coordination meetings to maintain safe working practices.
- You will review and implement risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- You will maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, labour returns and progress reports.
- You will liaise with Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors to ensure works are completed to specification.
What You’ll Need
- Previous experience as a General Foreman, Section Foreman or Senior Foreman within highways or civil engineering.
- A strong background in delivering highways construction schemes, including earthworks, drainage, road construction or associated infrastructure works.
- Experience supervising site teams, subcontractors and construction activities.
- A good understanding of construction programmes, site productivity and resource management.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant industry certifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS and CSCS.
