Job Description:

Operations Manager | Brigg | £60,000 – £65,000 + car allowance

Do you lead from the shop floor rather than the office? QK-TEX, the UK pioneer of lightweight honeycomb panels, needs an Operations Manager to take its Brigg site into its next phase of growth. Forge Partnerships is managing this appointment on its behalf.

The business

Established in 1965 and part of TEX Group since 1987, QK-TEX makes large, complex timber-based composite panels, including curved and 3D-formed components. Most go to the leisure vehicle and furniture sectors. The site employs 65 people, and the focus is efficiency, diversification and growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the MD, you’ll be accountable for the whole manufacturing operation:

  • People – leading the Production Manager, H&S, Technical, Purchasing and Maintenance, plus 5 team leaders and a 55-strong production team
  • Production – running daily production meetings and site walks across two shifts
  • Delivery – hitting 95% on-time-in-full and improving lead times with the Production Planner
  • Quality – fixing recurring issues at root cause
  • Improvement – leading lean, plus projects in production software, labour efficiency and equipment replacement
  • Reporting – OTIF, OEE, quality and turnover per production hour, reported weekly to TEX Group and quarterly to the board

About you

  • A track record running high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing operations
  • Experience with an engineered or manufactured product (the sector itself matters less)
  • Comfortable with every part of people management, from hiring to performance management
  • Lean and CI results you can evidence
  • A resilient change agent who is visible, approachable and direct
  • Solid understanding of UK health and safety requirements
  • Full UK driving licence

Package

  • £60,000 – £65,000 basic
  • car allowance
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • 4% employer pension contribution
  • death in service at 2.5x salary
  • an Employee Assistance Programme

Office hours are Monday to Thursday 8:15am-5:00pm and Friday 8:15am-1:00pm.
