Group Financial Controller (Ballymena)

We are seeking a Group Financial Controller to oversee our client’s group finance function, managing and mentoring a finance team across all entities. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements in both NI and ROI, including VAT, PAYE, and Customs-related activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate management accounts, managing the statutory audit process, and delivering performance analysis.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Control the finance function, managing and mentoring a finance team.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes across all group entities.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements in both NI and ROI, including VAT, PAYE, and Customs-related activities.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts together with KPI reporting.
- Manage the statutory audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Deliver performance analysis, including margins, labour costs, and stock control.
- Oversee cash flow management and monitor performance against budget.
- Prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts.
- Manage overhead costs with a view to ensuring best value for money at all times.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving internal controls.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
- Strong financial awareness and sound commercial acumen.
- Excellent forecasting and budgetary skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with X3 and Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI).
- Experience of working in a cross-border group of companies.
- Knowledge of cross-border VAT.
- Experience of NI Protocol processes.
