Job Description:

Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist at Beamery, you own and refine matching, recommendation, and taxonomy mapping models that power our talent marketplace. You’ll work closely with product engineers to deploy AI features with a rigorous evaluation mindset. You define quality metrics, run robust experiments, and communicate results to cross‑functional partners. You’ll stay at the forefront of NLP, embeddings, and recommender systems to push Beamery’s AI capabilities. This role offers impact across recruitment, mobility, and workforce planning in a fast‑growing AI power house.

Responsibilities

  • Build, improve and own matching and recommendation models (e.g., candidate-to-job matching, mobility recommendations)
  • Apply an evaluation-first mindset: create golden datasets, define quality metrics, design experiments, track metrics, and report results to product teams
  • Write clean, tested Python code using AI coding agents and review code to maintain a safe, readable codebase
  • Follow and bring relevant research (LLMs, embeddings, explainability, model evaluation) into the product roadmap
  • Document work and present findings to product, engineering and business stakeholders; contribute to research visibility (challenges, conferences, publications)

Key requirements

  • 2–4 years of Data Scientist/Senior Data Scientist experience in an AI startup or AI team
  • Strong experience with recommender systems, search, ranking or matching (learning-to-rank, embedding models)
  • Fluency in evaluation: datasets and metrics (AUC, NDCG, precision/recall); using LLM-as-a-judge and human feedback
  • Foundational NLP and GenAI knowledge (Transformers, LLMs, embeddings); training/fine-tuning is a plus
  • High-quality Python software development, CI/CD, and hands-on experience with agentic coding; ability to judge AI-generated code
  • Ability to simplify complex problems, work with ambiguity, and collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers and business stakeholders
  • Master’s or PhD, or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related field
  • collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • communication of complex results to non-technical stakeholders
  • ability to work in ambiguous environments and drive decisions
  • recommender systems, search, ranking, or matching
  • NLP and GenAI (Transformers, LLMs, embeddings)
  • Python software development, CI/CD
