Senior Java Developer (low latency)

Overview

In this role, you will design and optimize high-performance market-data applications, with a focus on low latency and CPU-efficient Java implementations. You’ll work with global teams to integrate proprietary feeds and ensure robust production readiness in Linux environments. The role emphasizes profiling, tuning, and bottleneck elimination to meet stringent latency and throughput targets. You will contribute to a mission-critical platform that distributes real-time market data across EMEA and the US, aligning with market structures and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance, low-latency applications using Core Java
• Profile and tune the JVM (garbage collection, memory, threads, CPU, latency)
• Develop and optimize low-latency network components and kernel-bypass solutions
• Integrate and support proprietary direct feeds and market-data distribution protocols
• Identify performance bottlenecks and improve throughput, latency, and resource utilization
• Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
• Support deployment and production processes within Linux environments
• Collaborate with global development, infrastructure, support, and business teams

Key requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience with Core Java and performance-critical systems
• Proven experience with JVM profiling and performance tuning (GC, memory, threads, CPU, latency)
• Strong Linux development and troubleshooting experience in production
• Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency applications
• Strong knowledge of low-latency network programming (TCP/IP, sockets, data processing, kernel-bypass)
• Working knowledge of C++ in performance-sensitive environments
• Experience with real-time market-data or electronic-trading platforms, including direct feeds and distribution protocols
• Strong performance analysis, troubleshooting, and production-support capabilities
