Job Description:

Insurance Strategy & Business Management

Role Overview

We have partnered with a leading global alternative asset manager that is considering an additional hire within its growing insurance investment business.

The firm has an established presence across the global insurance sector, with activities spanning insurance investments, strategic acquisitions, reinsurance and broader corporate development. As the business continues to expand, there is an opportunity for an individual to play a key role in supporting its strategic priorities, operational oversight and ongoing development.

Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate would provide broad business management and execution support across a range of strategic and operational initiatives. The position would offer exposure to insurance M&A, corporate strategy, business integration and the ongoing oversight of insurance-related businesses, alongside the opportunity to contribute to wider growth initiatives.

This is a highly varied position suited to someone who combines strong commercial judgement with a hands‑on, execution-focused approach. The role would require an individual who can think strategically about the longer-term development of a business while remaining equally comfortable taking ownership of specific projects, navigating complex challenges and delivering practical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior leadership in the oversight and ongoing development of the firm’s insurance investment activities, working across a broad range of business and strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to corporate strategy and business planning initiatives, helping evaluate opportunities, establish priorities and translate strategic objectives into actionable plans.
  • Support insurance-related M&A and corporate development activities, including aspects of commercial and operational due diligence, transaction evaluation and post-acquisition integration.
  • Assist with the ongoing oversight of insurance businesses and strategic investments, working with relevant stakeholders to monitor business performance, identify operational challenges and support improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and execute cross-functional projects involving investment, finance, operations, corporate development and other relevant teams.
  • Evaluate business processes, operating models and organisational structures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen execution and support future growth.
  • Prepare business analyses, strategic recommendations and management materials to support senior-level decision-making.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc strategic and operational projects, responding to evolving business priorities and ensuring initiatives progress efficiently from initial assessment through to execution.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Relevant experience within insurance, alternative asset management, financial services M&A, corporate development, strategic consulting or a related business management function.
  • Good understanding of the insurance sector, ideally gained through exposure to insurance M&A, corporate strategy, insurance investments or the operational management of insurance businesses.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to evaluate complex business issues, identify key considerations and develop practical, actionable solutions.
  • Experience supporting or executing strategic initiatives, transactions, business integration projects or operational improvement programmes.
  • Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders, coordinate across multiple functions and influence outcomes in a collaborative environment.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable managing multiple priorities, with the ability to transition quickly between longer-term strategic initiatives and immediate business requirements.
  • Proactive, hands‑on approach, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a clear focus on delivering results.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior management and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience within an insurance-focused investment platform, insurance company, financial institutions advisory team or management consultancy would be particularly relevant.

A collaborative, low-ego mindset, strong sense of ownership and willingness to take responsibility for projects of varying scope and complexity.
