Technical Author

Our client are seeking a Technical Author for a 12-month contract based in Christchurch in Dorset,

This is an on-site position.

Core duties

Typical duties include (but are not limited to):

• Request, gather and assess the required source information.
• Develop and implement the delivered publications database.
• XML Data Module technical authoring
• Create and maintain the Data Modules Requirements List.
• Provide data modules consistent with the publications database.
• Update all publications (including the use of technical drawings) as required.
• Produce new IETPs and/or AESPs as necessary.

Key Skills / Knowledge:

• Technical Publications specifications e.g. S1000D, Def Stan 00-601.
• S1000D Standard Numbering Systems SNS.
• Generation and maintenance of a Data Module Requirements List (DMRL).
• Technical authoring processes and techniques using industry proprietary software tools e.g. Eagle
• Knowledge and experience of XML Data Module technical authoring.
• Technical Publications/IETP/CSDB Configuration Management processes.
• A good understanding of technical source data for systems, sub-systems, and Line Replaceable Items/Units (LRU/Is) for generation of technical descriptions for inclusion into relevant technical publications Data Modules (DMs).
• Must be proficient in the use of Eagle LSAR & EPS CSDB software (mandatory).

Desired:

• Illustration experience using ISODraw software
