Senior Business Analyst (contractor), London

Overview

In this role you will support large, multi-year transformation programs in cross-border payments, combining business analysis with delivery planning. You’ll work closely with client stakeholders and Lab49 teams to elicit requirements, shape backlogs, and craft functional designs and roadmaps. The role blends hands-on analysis with advisory consulting, facilitating workshops and validating outputs to ensure alignment with client needs. You will operate in a hybrid delivery model within a finance-focused consultancy that values automation and rapid capability realization. This position offers exposure to diverse financial services programs, technology architectures, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct business analysis and elicit requirements
• Develop backlogs and detailed business specifications with numerical examples
• Design functional architectures and solution designs
• Create delivery roadmaps, identify dependencies, risks, and issues
• Perform business process reengineering
• Collaborate as part of a hybrid team and engage client stakeholders
• Facilitate workshops to resolve issues and validate requirements

Key requirements

• Working knowledge of financial markets and payments
• Understanding of financial flows and architecture
• Experience in business process modelling and requirements gathering
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, epics/user stories, and backlog management
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Hands-on ability to develop detailed specifications and numerical examples
• Experience delivering BA projects in financial markets, from inception to delivery
• Experience collaborating with IT teams to deliver products/solutions
