Associate Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, develop, and maintain software for Moody’s Corporates and Government engineering team, contributing to cloud-based, AI-enabled solutions. You’ll collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver customer-focused features in an agile environment. You’ll apply AI-assisted tools responsibly, improve engineering practices, and help scale secure software delivery. This position offers hands-on technical leadership and impact on enterprise risk platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions for the C&G team
• Build features, APIs, and integrations with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and team learning activities
• Write clean, reliable code and contribute to automated testing and documentation
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to meet requirements
• Use approved AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, documentation, and learning
• Investigate and resolve straightforward defects and support production improvements
• Build technical knowledge across Moody’s platforms, standards, cloud technologies, and secure delivery practices

Key requirements

• Foundational software engineering experience
• Working knowledge of modern web or backend technologies (React, .NET Core, C#, Python; Rust exposure a plus)
• Understanding of APIs, databases, software design principles, version control, testing, and agile delivery
• Exposure to cloud platforms, CI/CD, containers, observability, or secure software development practices beneficial
• Curiosity to learn cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, AI-assisted development tools, and evolving engineering practices
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with collaborative mindset
• Clear communication and ongoing learning attitude, commitment to quality delivery
• Awareness of responsible AI, data protection, security, and ethical technology use beneficial
• Willingness to work across languages and use AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code) to become productive
