Lead Forward Deployed AI Engineer (SVP)

Overview

As Lead Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will architect and deliver production-grade AI agent systems within embedded business teams, solving complex banking workflow challenges. You’ll own end-to-end delivery from agent design to enterprise integration, security, and observability. You’ll mentor engineers, set high engineering standards, and turn successful solutions into reusable capabilities that scale. This role offers hands-on impact in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with a strong focus on responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture and hands-on delivery within embedded teams
• Design, build and deploy end-to-end agentic workflows using Python, ADK, LangGraph and Arc platform
• Engineer integrations between AI agents and banking systems, APIs, databases and microservices
• Design secure, resilient agent execution environments with mTLS, OAuth2, Vault and OpenShift security
• Drive architecture reviews, code reviews, security assessments and mentoring
• Collaborate with principal architects and stakeholders to establish design patterns
• Contribute reusable architectures and blueprints to Citi’s enterprise AI platform
• Champion responsible AI, meeting security, governance and risk requirements

Key requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience with backend and distributed systems
• Proven experience building and deploying production-grade LLM and agentic AI applications
• Expert-level Python skills (asyncio, state machines)
• Experience with distributed microservices, containerisation and orchestration (Docker, OpenShift)
• Ability to integrate enterprise APIs, databases (relational/NoSQL) and Kafka
• Knowledge of agentic AI architectures, multi-step reasoning, tool orchestration
• Understanding of application security, zero-trust, authentication and secure tool execution
• Experience leading design, mentoring engineers and working with senior stakeholders
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver in a fast-moving, collaborative environment
